Hamburg COVID-19 Series

Wednesday, 09/09/2020 - 1 pm

Dr. Alke Meents (DESY) will talk about his COVID-19 research

Many scientists in the Hamburg metropolitan area are involved in research related to SARS-CoV-2 and the COVID-19 pandemic. In cooperation with the Helmholtz graduate school for Data Science in Hamburg (DASHH), the Leibniz ScienceCampus InterACt wants to increase the visibility of this research fostering new contacts and potential collaborations. Therefore, the new online Hamburg COVID-19 lecture series started on August 12th. The series represents a unique platform for vivid exchange and takes place every two weeks with a 30-minute lecture and room for further discussions afterwards.

The next lecture will take place on Wednesday, September 9, at 1 pm via zoom. Dr. Alke Meents (DESY) will give us an insight into his corona research at DESY. His talk is entitled "Structure based drug design: massive X-ray screening of a repurposing drug library against the SARS-CoV-2 main protease".

A recent publication concerning his COVID-19 research can be found here.
