The first scientific symposium of the Leibniz ScienceCampus InterACt took place on February 19, 2020 with lectures on the topic of the ScienceCampus, "Integrative analysis of pathogen-induced compartments". In a total of 15 lectures, the focus lay on imaging techniques with which pathogen-induced compartments can be investigated.

The main purpose of the meeting was to strengthen the networking between the various groups in InterACt. In addition, three external key note speakers with supplementary thematic presentations could be won:

Dr. Gabrielle Vieyres, scientist at the Twincore centre in Hannover, spoke about how the growth and decay of lipid droplets regulate the replication cycle of hepatitis C.

Prof. Christian Eggeling, head of the department of Biophysical Imaging at the Leibniz Institute for Photonic Technologies and director of the Institute for Applied Optics and Biophysics at the University of Jena, gave a presentation on high-resolution microscopy of membrane lipids.

Dr. Jost Enninga from the Institute Pasteur (France), head of the department "Dynamics of host pathogen-interactions", presented current research on the life cycle of intracellular bacteria using a combination of approaches.

In addition to the scientific lectures, the company Nikon offered "hands-on sessions" on February 20: The guests had the opportunity to test state-of-the-art imaging and analysis techniques on their own samples.
